Olney Theatre Center believes that arts education plays an essential role in our nation’s cultural health. That’s why in addition to our arts integration program, we offer apprenticeships. The apprenticeship program is a year long experience intended to offer emerging theater artists a bridge between university and the profession. For one year, 16 apprentices live and work on OTC’s campus in every facet of the organization. Meet one of our Stage Management apprentices, Lacey Jo Sloat!

    Hometown: Stafford, New York

What is the path that brought you to OTC?

Michelle, the electrics apprentice, and I worked together at a theatre in Rochester last year. When the stage management position opened, she called me and let me know. Somehow within less than two weeks I was here and working on Elf.

What are you working on right now?

We’re wrapping up the last week of Elf the Musical and then straight into Once.

What is something you are looking forward to?

I’m excited to start on Once and be able to see the process through from beginning to end.

What are you planning to do for your capstone?

Developing a portfolio of paperwork to take with me when I leave, and possibly calling a show.

What’s special about Olney Theatre Center?

The opportunity to literally live inside a theatre!

What’s one fun fact you'd like to share?

I am a triplet! I have a brother, Jordan, and a sister, Larisa.
