Our performer for this year’s annual gala is Cheyenne Jackson! If you’re a musical theatre fan, you’d recognize him from Altar Boyz, All Shook Up, or Xanadu, among other shows. If TV and film are more your thing, you’ll likely remember him from Glee, American Horror Story, or United 93. If you’ve ever gotten the chance to see him perform, he’s clearly very talented. But when you look into the things he does off stage and off screen, you’ll find that he gets even cooler!
Cheyenne Jackson is an advocate for a variety of different issues. He believes “If you’re physically able to make a difference in someone’s life, you have the moral responsibility to do so.” This belief is evident in the many causes he’s involved in. Cheyenne serves as an International Ambassador for amfAR, The Foundation for Aids Research. In this role, he helps raise funds for research and raise awareness. In the video below, he shares a touching story about what moved him to get involved in this fight.
Additionally, Cheyenne is also a national ambassador for the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), a non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of serving LGBTQ youth. In that role, it is his job to help increase awareness of the challenges facing LGBTQ youth and speak to a national audience about the essential and expanding work of Hetrick-Martin Institute. When getting involved with the #HelpMeImagine campaign, a campaign led by the HMI to raise awareness about the struggles facing LGBT youth, Cheyenne said “Joining the #HelpMeImagine campaign and being an HMI ambassador has been a natural fit for me. I’ve been blessed to see so many of my dreams come true. Every child deserves that opportunity. And that’s what HMI does. HMI imagines a better world for us. That’s a dream I can stand behind.”
We feel so grateful that our performer for this year’s gala is not only incredibly talented, but also so caring!
